What Antonie Swain has been able to accomplish in the time he has done it is simply outstanding. A new comer to the jazz scene, Antonie has made a lasting impression on listeners with and broad style and range of nuances that delight the ears of young and old.
Antonie is a Graduate of The Florida A&M University. They have received such honors a Time Magazines College of the Year, a title usually reserved for Harvard or Yale, and is a school known nationally and internationally for its Jazz, Symphonic, and Marching Band (The Marching 100) programs. It has been the educational home of some of today’s leading jazz musicians i.e. Scotty Barnhart, (Basie Band) Victor Goins, Wycliffe Gordon, and Vincent Gardner of Jazz at Lincoln Center and is also the educational home of Cannonball and Nat Adderlly.
While a member of this prestigious university Antonie began moving toward a career in music by playing in the Tallahassee Jazz Festival numerous years, recording commercials, jingles, and recording a gospel album with The Boys Choir of Tallahassee a group that has been featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show and has traveled nationally and internationally with the group promoting the album “Gods Love Lifted Me”. Antonie went on to play lead trombone at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fl in there seasonal college program, and was later selected to play in the Disney All American College Band at Walt Disneyland in Anahiam, CA. Antonie is presently completing a Masters Degree Program at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA where he will receive his degree in Jazz Studies and Orchestral Performance.
During the span of about 10 years Antonie has played in numerous stage bands, Gospel, R&B, and Hip-Hop groups, Toured internationally and nationally with Drumline Live LLC. in a theatrical production of the movie “Drumline” staring Nick Cannon, and recorded for hip-hop superstar Rick Ross (Gold Album/Mayback Music 3).
