Will McCranie is not just another singer/songwriter. He is an accomplished musician and has shared the stage with Mike Gordon (Phish) & Joe Russo (Furthur); played on the same bills as Goo Goo Dolls & Colbie Caillat; and studied under Jamie McLean (Jamie McLean Band/ Dirty Dozen Brass Band), Jake Cinninger (Umphrey's McGee) & Jon "Barber" Gutwillig (The Disco Biscuits).
Born and raised in Georgia, McCranie’s southern roots of soul and jazz influence can always be heard in his music. Now a New Yorker, he is no stranger to the music scene. After years performing with other bands and artists, McCranie is ready to get back to how it all started, with just him and his guitar. On going back solo, “There's something really liberating and adventurous about having no one but yourself to fall back on.”
McCranie is set to release his brand new single “Ain’t That Strange” as a solo artist on February 19th, 2013.
The track was originally written by McCranie a few years ago, but with the help of producer extraordinaire Matty Amendola, they have been able to create a song that is a true reflection on the possibility and timing of love. The new single has raw vocals laid evenly on an upbeat, toe-tapping track that has remnants of some of the great singer/songwriters like Edwin McCain and Duncan Sheik. McCranie pours his heart out with his music and writes songs that everyone can relate to.
“Ain’t That Strange?” is just the first glimpse into what will be a big year for McCranie who is following his tradition of write, record, tour, repeat.
