Philip Ferguson is a native Texan, raised in the dusty little West Texas town of Big Spring. Philip has been playing country music most of his adult life and in 2006 drifted into the wonderful world of Bluegrass.
Philip started writing about 35 years ago and writes songs from the heart with a mix of country, bluegrass and what might be considered Americana. Philip Ferguson and his band recently recorded a new CD with a mix of songs written 30+ years ago and some newer ones. The CD was produced by Brad (the Shredder) Davis at Brad Davis Music Studio in Commerce, Texas. The CD titled "Old Danville Road" is full of songs that will speak to you in one way or another. Mostly the songs are Bluegrass that can be woefully mournful with others that will lift you right back to the good side of life.
Philip formed the band "Texas True" with his wife, June in January 2012. June plays bass with the band and sings. Robert Paul plays banjo, dobro, fiddle and sings harmonies. Robert's son, Braeden Paul plays mandolin and also adds harmonies.
The band plays mostly local venues around the Dallas area in coffee shops and restaurants. Public events that they have played include Bluegrass on Ballard 4th of July festival, Sunset Concerts series for the City of The Colony, the Jim Paul Miller annual Memorial Show.
