We are The StoneCoats, a Blues Rock band from Brandon, MS. All this began three years ago this October when two brothers and a best friend got together with a passion for music and a passion to change the world for the better. Our members consist of Brannon Barnett age 25, lead guitarist/ lead vocalist, Carson Bristow age 18, lead guitarist/rhythm guitarist, Leighton Bristow age 20, drummer/bassist, and Ashten Frisella age 21, bassist. There have been some changes along the way. Leighton moved from bass to drums having never played drums before, and our friend, Ashten Frisella, took over as our bassist.
Last year, we were very fortunate to have had so many wonderful opportunities considering how new we were to the music scene. We released an EP entitled “Change,” with seven new songs posted on our music page. We played all over the state of Mississippi including Ground Zero in Clarksdale, Nate's in Gulfport,The Levee in Oxford, and Rick's in Starkville. Our song, “When You’re Down,” was chosen by Butterflies Radio to be put in rotation play and highlighted in one of their Monday night segments of up and coming artist to watch for.
This year we have once again had incredible opportunies to expand our business and grow our fan base. We have been on the road steadily and are expanding into the Tennessee area and other surrounding states. Our band was chosen to be in the movie, "Get On Up," produced by Mick Jagger and directed by Tate Taylor. Our drummer, Leighton Bristow was chosen to play Charlie Watts, drummer for The Rolling Stones. (You can read more about this under latest news.) We were asked in February to play a showcase in front of labels at The Hard Rock Cafe in Memphis. We actually ended up in the wnner's circle. It was a great opportunity to network and has led to us being able to headline The Hard Rock on July 12. We were also invited to American Recording Studio in Memphis, TN where we are currently working with a set of awesome producers on an album and getting ready to release a couple of singles to our fan base which is expanding daily all over the world. We have had several press articles written about us and continue to get positive reviews everywhere we play. All of this has been an honor, and we are always humbled when our work is noticed.
We love all genres of music and can play all genres of music, but right now our music kind of has a sound all its own. We start playing, the magic just happens, and the lyrics start flowing. Check out our songs under the Music tab and check back for our new material coming out this fall. We are always writing and pushing ouselves to the limit, striving to do our best. Where does the rest of this year take us? We know back to playing shows and being on stage because that is where we feel at home. We consider ourselves Modern Day Renaissance Men and southern gentlemen. We work hard and are dedicated to what we do. When the time is right, we hope to take all of this to the world stage and hopefully help change the world for the better. Whatever happens, forty years from now we will be able to say we followed our dreams, our passions, and gave it our all.
