Dual Identity is an indie rock band formed in 1992 by Matt Sipple and Chris Hanson. Originating in Erie, Pennsylvania we primarily play in Pennsylvania, New York, and Ohio, but have traveled as far north as Toronto, Canada. In 1992, while still a duo, we performed our first original song live on Rocket 101 and have made several subsequent guest appearances over the years.
We have a wide range of musical influences from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Police, and Cheap Trick, to Van Halen, Yes, Rush, Guns and Roses, Alice in Chains, Sublime, Blind Melon, and even Lisa Loeb. We always strive to keep our music current, yet remain true to our roots and ourselves. Our music is from the heart, drawing on our experiences and emotions, and then capturing these emotions in our songs.
The band has grown since our days as a duo, and in 2010 we decided to pour all our efforts into writing and recording our own music. Our freshman album, Lust To Dust, was released in February 2012. Our follow up album, Get Up, was released in November 2012, and was accompanied by several music videos, featuring songs from both albums.
2013 is already proving to be another big year for Dual Identity. We have recently begun work on our third album and we have brought in Greg Bonner as Dual Identity's first full time bass player. Matt and Greg played together many years ago and are thrilled to be reunited.
All three of us have an undying passion for music and we intend to continue writing and playing music until it is no longer possible for us to play.
