King of the Cubicle consists of three guys who just got tired of not being in a band. It all started in early 2010 when one day at work, Jacob Wiser said, "Hey, let's start a band!" and Michael Garland responded with, "Okay."
The next couple of years saw very slow but steady progress as a few songs were written. Most were played with a looped guitar track in the background consisting of a 3-7 part guitar piece depending on the song. This was accompanying sultry alto saxophone and voice. There were a few rough recordings made, but this was largely for personal enjoyment and to distribute to friends.
As time passed on, it appeared to be time to hire a drummer. In the summer of 2012, Wiser contacted Michael Seay whom he knew from growing up in Nashville. Seay played the drumset, and just so happened to be moving to Knoxville in August, so Wiser invited him to play with the band. That's when things really took off.
From August 2012 to December 1st 2012, King of the Cubicle has written twice the music than in the past two years, played two shows (one being in the massive Cox Auditorium on UT's campus in Knoxville), and recorded a four-track EP entitled "Coffee, Saxophones, and Other Items of Business" which will be released eventually..
