The Blu Skies bring their brand of “Impressionistic Rock” to the St. Louis area with the release of their debut CD “Ghost of Design,” on June 15th 2013. The album was recorded at Red Pill Studio in St. Louis Missouri and illustrates the band’s Rock, Folk and Atmospheric approach by way of ten original tracks penned by founding member Matt McGibany. The foreground of the band’s sound exhibits texture and introspective lyrical content suggesting influences of Wilco, My Morning Jacket, Pink Floyd and Fleet Foxes. Their style also echoes 60’s and 70’s icons Jimi Hendrix, The Doors and The Allman Brothers. Driven by their passion to support local arts and entertainment in and around St. Louis, the band has chosen to produce the record with engineer/producer Drew Mader of “Way Rad Revival Studio” located in the band’s hometown of Alton, Illinois.
The Blu Skies were formed in 2011, by Matt McGibany as a platform for his original music. This five piece band consists of dual guitar solos, three part harmonies and a tight groovy rhythm section of keys, bass and drums. Since the release of their debut CD, “Ghost of Design,” the band has been featured on “Local Artist Spotlight” in St. Louis, and highlighted in an online blog written by Mabel Suen of St. Louis’s popular entertainment paper “River Front Times.” They were also chosen by Pat Wolfe, a popular DJ on KDHX as a TOP 10 release for the first half of 2013. The Blu Skies currently tour in the Midwest reason in support of the debut release and will be widening their horizons this year 2014.
