FILTER KINGZ are Pianist PHILLIP GELBACH and singer/songwriter JAMES AVATAR.

• PHILLIP GELBACH is an Australian composer and concert pianist. He studied composition with Leonid Hrabovsky, piano with Vladimir Viardo, and jazz improvisation with Barry Harris. His 2011 piano recital program included the musical works of Schubert, Schumann, Bach, Franck, Medtner and original compositions for piano. Phillip has written for Silo String Quartet, Yaroslav Bell and is currently co-producing FILTER KINGZ. upcoming CD, "DECLASSIFIED". He has performed at Lincoln Center, the United Nations, Trinity Church and BMW Edge in Sydney, Australia.

• JAMES AVATAR is a digital content producer, singer/songwriter and multimedia teacher . He co-founded the art collective BROOKLYN MEDIA LAB (2002-2004), served as music director for the animated online series WHIRLGIRL and is songwriter for the Brooklyn "Kid-Indie" Rock Band AUDRA ROX. After completing a new multimedia class for a New York Middle School's after school program, James is creative director for AVATARDED MEDIA, an emerging art collective and multimedia production company in New Orleans, Louisiana and is currently co-producing FILTER KINGZ. upcoming CD, "DECLASSIFIED" with Phillip Gelbach.

FILTER KINGZ, billed as a "Covert Jazztronic Duo" is a part of the now defunct, 13-piece Hip Hop/R&B NYC ensemble CHRONIC ELECTRONIC ORCHESTRA, whose 2004 diaspora resultied in the formation of other bands like the New Orleans "Avant Soul" band THE MUMBLES, the experimental jazz ensemble PEARRING KNIFE.
