Grimm Jennings, formed in 2011 out of Florence, Texas, consists of five members coming together from three separate bands, all with different influences.
Andrew Jennings and JJ Gomez are the lead vocals and rhythm guitar players. Andrew’s higher vocal range and clear tone contrasts with JJ’s raspy “whiskey and cigarettes” voice to create a unique combination. With JJ coming from a more southern rock/Texas sound and Andrew’s more traditional country background, the two built a fan base as an acoustic duo, playing gigs around Central Texas.
Darin Grimm, bass player, was the driving force in getting all the members together. Being raised in a small town, you would think that his influences would be limited to Waylon, Willie and Cash…but you would be completely wrong. Primus, Snot and Pantera are more in his wheelhouse than any country band.
Mike Leuer is another member with a non-country music background. Mike is a self-taught guitar player who grew up listening to Van Halen, Black Sabbath, AC/DC and the Rolling Stones. Mike and Darin bring the hard-edge sound that Grimm Jennings is known for and add the rockin’ quality to the original material that Andrew, JJ and Logan write for the band.
Logan Muniz from Three Rivers, Texas takes his influences from Hoyt Stacy and various other Red Dirt drummers. He draws from his love of Texas country to help create Grimm’s distinctive rhythm sound. Always a fan favorite, Logan ensures that everyone has a good time.
All five members contribute to the band’s growing catalogue of original material. Grimm also covers artists such as Johnny Cash, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Mike McClure, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Jerry Jeff Walker, Brandon Adams, and Charlie Shafter.
Grimm owns a full PA system that includes: 16-channel mixing board, column speakers, stage monitors, with 5000 watts of power. The band is well equipped to play a small acoustic-style room to a large outdoor venue.
