Like many stories this one starts with a simple beginning. Born in Guayaquil Ecuador, Andres was the second child to a very musical and artistic family. Since an early age it became very natural for Andres and his brothers to pickup instruments and enjoy the gift of music, and when his parents realized such an interest they quickly enrolled them in a conservatory of music.
As time went by music became more than a hobby and evolved into a passion. Their teenage years Andres(aka MenO) and his brothers joined several musical projects, starting original bands and backing up other Ecuadorian artists. The choice to be a musician or better yet the lack of one, became apparent when Andres moved to the USA back in 2002 in search for bigger and better opportunities. He first arrived in Los Angeles, then in Miami and finally settled down in Phoenix Arizona.
Somewhere back in 2004 Andres decided to share his intimate writings and melodies. Armed with an acoustic guitar and willing heart, he visited many venues and open mics in of the Phoenix Arizona music scene. It was an amazing surprise to find people accepting and embracing his original songs as much as the covers he sang, so the first version of the project MenO was born.
Using the internet boom as his main source of outreach Andres wrote and recorded 94 songs in his time as a wanderer of the desert. Until one day a simple phone call brought an obvious idea never laid on top of a table. Andres moved back to Miami to reunite with his brothers and make the project stronger.
Together the Mena brothers wrote, arranged, recorded and produced many tracks. Then selected the material for the first MenO album, due to the existential content of the lyrics and melancholy it painted with its melodies it was named "Tales of a Dreamer" and it tells the story of a foreigner moving to different country, learning about life, falling in love and experimenting true heartbreak.
When the album was finished and the brothers started performing the material on local stages and venues the band was born. Different members have been part of the project always contributing their love and passion for music and without a doubt leaving a small part of themselves in songs Andres has written over the years.
Currently a trio MenO and his band finished recording and releasing their second Album titled "Changing Minds". The name for this release was given to MenO by a dear friend, after hearing the arrangements and songs that were to be included.
Holding true to the notion that nothing can be achieved if you don't move forward. MenO and his band started to work on an acoustic album to be released mid 2012. An effort that completes a cycle as an artist and as a songwriter.
To quote a fan of the band "MenO's style is basically singer-songwriter music dressed in different outfits"
