Joshua Abel LaFrance Louis was born in Newark, New Jersey September 23, 1987 to Stavelie Begon and Jean-Robert Louis. Shortly after his birth, due to cold weather and rough neighborhoods, Josh relocated to Miami, Florida. After relocating to South Miami Josh’s parents separated, which forced Josh to be moved from house to house in the southern part of Miami for most of his childhood.
Josh took an interest in rapping after listening to Eminem’s “SLIM SHADY LP” and Busta Rhymes “WHEN DISASTER STRIKES”, which led to participating in street “ciphers” and local battle competitions. In high school, Josh was a very shy, quiet kid, he later gained the respect of his peers because of his lyrical talent and joined the group Kurrupted Mind (a local group). Josh then took on the name Sage (discovering it from the Legend of Zelda) to describe the being and give the tenacity, aggressiveness, and platform he needed in order to gain the respect of everyone battled. When battling local rappers he wasn’t that “shy kid Josh” everyone knew, he became Sage. In time he’s also incorporated the name of his alter ego Bobby Morningstar to express his more vulnerable, less aggressive side.
After high school, Sage separated from the rap group to pursue a solo rap career. Sage, a.k.a. Bobby Morningstar, is known for his witty wordplay, graphic sarcasm and comic relief. Sage is currently working on a slew of new material to break through and become an established artist on the music scene.
