I was born and raised in St. Louis MO. I received a B.A in theater from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. While living in Kansas City, I founded the Black and Avant-garde Community Theater. I moved to New York City in the 70s and began writing. My first major writing project was writing the book and lyric for a musical entitled Starfest. This musical was produced by me at the 18th Street playhouse and the Ansonia Theater. Joan of Arc, my second musical, has been developed in workshops in NYC and San Diego.
I’ve written numerous full-length plays: Life Amount the Trees, The Seamstress of St. Francis Street, Last Days of Café, Café, The Healing of Joey Padowaski, Apollo’s Way, and Icarus Wings. I current run the St. Louis Writers’ Group which is gear to helping local script writers develop their projects. I’m also on the board of First Run Theatre, a community theatre that does full production of local writers.
