Tunji Alade originally thought his foray into music would be as a choreographer or as a background dancer. Nevertheless, TUNJI had much more in him than just being a dancer. In 2008, TUNJI moved to NYC and was asked if he could sing while working on a short film (and unofficial selection for the Venice Film Festival) called Hungry Henrieta. In two days in 2010, he linked with a professional music instrumentals producer and recorded the lead track Sexymone in two quick sittings. It was not until TUNJI's Sound Engineer insisted without a doubt that TUNJI do music as a full time gig that TUNJI finally started to see his calling.
With a look and musical style all his own TUNJI aims to be a groundbreaking artist. Critiquing himself and his music at all points TUNJI's attention to detail is as focused as how he sees his live performances. Concentrated, focused, filled with energy and with progressive themes.
TUNJI is set to begin performing in 2012 and to sign with a major label. His debut album Tungsten Light, a delightfully titled anagram of TUNJI's name, is currently being negotiated. Tungsten Light, an unapologetic and hardcore debut melds Pop, Urban and even Hip Hop; fusing Neo-Soul, Acid Jazz, Classical, House, Rock & Roll and even Trip Hop genres.
Tunji currently resides in Houston, Texas.
