Born in Edmonton, AB, Canada, Kim currently lives on Gabriola Island, BC.
Born into a musical family, his father was a classical concert singer and flutist, while his mother was a pianist. It was a natural thing to move into music.
Kim began playing guitar when he was 14 (he also plays piano). He has studied with various teachers and spent two years studying music at Malaspina College (now VIU) in Nanaimo.
Originally, Kim aspired to be a blues guitarist; but he eventually turned to classical music and also enjoys bossa nova and jazz.
Kim writes and plays his own musical compositions, of which many are contained in his newly released CD.
