Like many of the greatest ideas of all time, Rio Debut was imagined over a few beers and some boredom. Sometime in late 2011 Jordan and Andrew met at a party and decided to play some guitar... from here Rio Debut was born. Jordan and Thomas had already talked for a long time about forming a band like Rio, so quickly the band had the guitars and drums taken care of; now it was time for a bassist. Since Thomas and Jordan had been working with Jake on music all summer, prior to Jordan and Andrew meeting, Jake was a logical choice to play bass, especially since he could also play other roles if need be. Immediately the four planned out some time to get together and just jam, not with any real direction or idea of what it might be. After a few times of getting together just to jam the group noticed they not only had a great time playing music together, but it also resulted in some groovy tunes. At this point the group of four realized they needed something else. They immediately realized that they needed piano to accompany what they had started and Dan was the perfect fit. Thomas and Jake played in jazz band with Dan during high school and knew what he could bring to the group. After a solid year of writing and performing original tunes the band decided to try a female vocalist while jamming in college. Lindsey soon became a full time member, and with that, Rio Debut’s line-up was set.
