Melody Lovejoy - Influenced by her love of rock driven music and her country roots, Melody’s voice combines the smoky overtones of a rock diva with the clear emotion of a country songstress to bring a punchy, yet emotionally connected performance. Compared to voices such as Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Jan Arden and Kimberly Perry from the Band Perry, her debut release, ‘I’m Letting Go’ demonstrates that Melody is just as comfortable belting out power anthems as she is skilled at evoking tears in tender, heart-wrenching ballads.
On this project Melody had the pleasure of working with Clay Krasner & RyLee Madison (7-17 Music) and Shayne Hill (NP Studios) in Nashville, Tennessee. As a result, the recording showcases an impressive line up of musicians who have worked with the likes of Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, Terri Clark, Martina McBride, Michelle Wright, Sawyer Brown, Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire and The Band Perry.
Melody also has a strong passion for empowering women of all ages and has recently partnered with the YWCA in Edmonton who will be a recipient of a portion of the proceeds raised at the CD Release concert in November. The YWCA (ywcaofedmonton.org) is an organization that supports girl empowerment, violence prevention, healthy communities & women’s leadership.
Also a seasoned performer, Melody has graced stages as intimate as your living room and as large as a football stadium. A few notable past performances include Edmonton Eskimos home game of 42,000 spectators, the Edmonton Honda Indy Ultimate Street Party, the Alberta Premier’s Breakfast, the Taste of Edmonton and the 2010 Grey Cup Huddle Town where she shared the stage with the likes of Emerson Drive, George Canyon, Clayton Bellamy, Ian Thornley and Big Wreck, Bif Naked, Trooper and Big Sugar. She is looking forward to sharing her new music at various venues across the country.
Melody was awarded the Rawlco Radio 10k20 Grant in 2013, was a Global Country Star Search finalist in 2013 and 2014 and was nominated as an ‘Artist to Watch’ at the 2014 Edmonton Music Awards.
Her first single ”I’m Letting Go” was released to National Radio in Canada on September 16, 2014 and her debut EP is set to release on November 14, 2014.
