“CONTROLLED BREEDING IN SHEEP” is an underground indie band based in Toronto, Canada, Earth dedicated to stimulate laughter, tears, reflection, bowel movements and forward thinking. Their chilling debut album, “Oh Dear”, dares to add their “progressive thought rock” voice to further fuel the Arab Spring, Occupy Movement, Idle No More and all those striving for a compassionate, fair, sustainable and peaceful world.
Lead by musical shepherd dexter winklemeyer, C.B.I.S. have been described as a "Beatles/Pink Floyd/Green Day truth serum mindwarp". Their potent lyrics and viral melodies illustrate their myriad of musical influences including Roger Waters, John Lennon, Ween, Midnight Oil, Tom Waits, Michael Franti, and Radiohead.
In the early spring of 2003, dexter was disturbed by the pending invasion of Iraq so he swiftly wrote and recorded the pro-peace rocker, “No More Blood”. He connected with renowned political activist, Noam Chomsky, who lent some of his thought-provoking words to the chilling song that was played at peace rallies across North America. The song unfortunately still rings true today which is yet another inspiration for C.B.I.S.’s riveting album release.
“Oh Dear” features “We’re Strong” an activist empowerment anthem, the storm the palace rocker “Give Us The Truth”, the Brit psychedelia lullaby title track “Oh Dear”, the hauntingly touching acoustic “Too Much To Say”, the searing anti-war song “It’s Insane” and their Siamese singles “Live Your Life” for the work and social network obsessed, plus 11 other mesmerizing tracks… all unleashed upon the unsuspecting musical universe in time for us to celebrate the end of the world didn’t happen.
