Incubated by a 20+ year songwriter/performer alliance with brother www.jeffreypepperrodgers.com that started as an underage act in various seedy north-central New Jersey bars that migrated through New England and west to Salt Lake City, Dru eventually landed in the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 1980’s. With brother Jeff and musical compatriots Steve Bird and Jay Young, “Heavy Wood” was born and ripened in bay area clubs and cafes over the years, culminating in a an unreleased but recently restored 1994 recording session.
Since the days of Heavy Wood, Dru has been busier than ever collaborating with friends, bands and circles in northern California including KAZAMOZE (www.kazamoze.com), Cahoots (www.cahootstheband.com) and Roxanne Oliva (http://facebook.com/roxanne.oliva). Inspired by a growing covey of 4, 5, 6 and 8 string tenors and baritone ukulele’s, cavaquinho, bouzouki and guitars, Dru applies his modified flatpicking style and amplified acoustics to a range of genres.
2011 was a prolific year of new releases for Dru including:
