With a modern metal sound that some say is evocative of Metallica and Avenged Sevenfold, Nova Scotia’s A Call for Submission was poised to expand their reach with the release of their first studio album, Rise or Fall and the guys did just that. Known for their catchy hooks and melodic vocals, the group has been playing since 2009; the current incarnation consists of lead vocalist Immanuel Brewster, lead/rythm guitarist Jesse Harris, lead/rythm guitarist Jon Fredericks, bassist JD Harris and drummer Aaron Spinney.
The band cites bands like: Metallica, Black Sabbath, Slayer, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, As I Lay Dying, Atreyu, Pantera, Megadeth, and KISS among many of their musical influences. These influences are evidenced in the band’s musical evolution across multiple genres. At a show, fans can expect to hear intense original sounds blended with popular new and old rock and roll and heavy metal. You can find a sample of their sounds on the band’s Facebook fanpage, ReverbNation, Soundcloud, MySpace or from their official website at www.acallforsubmission.com
Of A Call for Submission’s sound, guitarist Jesse Harris says, “I believe our music balances on the fine line of heavy and melodic. I see people head banging in the front row, but at the same time singing along with the chorus. It gives you the fist pumping, devil horn bearing energy that people crave in music, and the singable, soaring vocals that keep it stuck in your head for days.”
A Call for Submission plays events and venues across the Maritimes and beyond with the promotional assistance of their Manager Jessica Brewster of Fusion Entertainment Co. who hosted and promoted Two "Rise or Fall" release parties at Michaels Bar & Grill in Halifax, Nova Scotia (May 17, 2013) and West Side Charlies in New Minas, Nova Scotia (June 8, 2013). In 2013 the guys played Riverfest- Rock the Bush 2013 with the Denmark Productions Halifax-Plugged In 2012 line-up. Then their original tune "Walking Saviour" won them 2 spots at "Festival et Macadam" in Quebec City in September 2013;one to open for Pennywise and one to play after NOFX. They were also 1 of 3 Maritime rock bands to be chosen to play the New Glasgow Jubilee Winter Rock Show 2013.
They are now working hard on the new material and are currently in the studio at Denmark Productions, Halifax working on their 2nd album & 1st full length album and have taken a hiatis from gigs while they complete the project. The guys have really raised the bar with their new material and are excited for the results as they aim to release the album by June 2014 and tour Eastern Canada. They have taken their music to new levels and have stepped outside their comfort zones bettering them as musicians . Stay tuned for what the future brings for this band as they are on the rise and plan to make 2014 even better!
