The Riverbreaks is an Americana rock band based in Washington, D.C., with roots in the Triangle Area of North Carolina. After forming in January 2010, the band released its debut album Get You Right on April 7, 2011.
The name The Riverbreaks comes from the band’s song Piedmont and serves as a metaphor for the genre breaking D.C. group. Like the music, the band’s songs and lyrics reflect journeys and geographies, resulting in a sound that is uniquely Southern, yet globally influenced. References to North Carolina, where several members had a previous band in Chapel Hill, and Washington, D.C., are accompanied by occasional forays into Latin America, a product of the lead singer’s two years spent living in the Central American jungle.
