John was born and raised in a tiny, traditional farming community in Northwest Ohio. He grew up listening to his parent's 33 and 78 rpm records of the classic country greats of the 50's and 60's. During his teen and early adult years, John wrote poetry and did have three poems published in anthology books. However, there was more inside of him that needed to escape. Influenced by such icons as Johnny Cash, Bill Monroe, Del McCoury, Hank Williams and George Jones; he realized that song writing was the path for him. In 2005 John bought his first guitar and a Johnny Cash song book and taught himself to play. He soon after put pen to paper and the words seemed to flow like water. His rhythms are simple and the lyrics relatable. Through his unique sound and original songs, John's passion is to help fill the void in bluegrass/country music with a type of music that has not been popular for over 30 years. In his bluegrass/neo-classical country style, the voices of his inspirations can be heard. Whether it is 1940 or today, this sound or style can not be dated. It's all right here. It is John Brodbeck.
