Sammysezso / Bio

SammySezSo is a 90s blend of Alternative rock, grunge puck, rockabilly, reggae, and gospel. Their songs are exceptionally unique and it's difficult to decipher what they'll do next. SammySezSo is known for their stage presence. History of crowd pleasers include puppet shows, ninjas, Danny Elfman Halloween tributes, wardrobe changes onstage, fights with slippers, ridiculous raps, and undoubtedly corny jokes. Sammysezso is partnered with Compassion International, and World Vision. They plan on making custom merch from used clothing to help protect the environment. Ryan and Amber met in Japan in 2009, married in 2010 the day before halloween, and started a band soon after.
AMBER sang since 4 years old, but she grew up being afraid to sing to people in public. In high school, her shower voice became public as she "grew closer to God" which led into her relentlessly ruling karaoke bars with her Guns N Roses tributes. Amber found her influences mainly from No Doubt, 311, Save Ferris, and Christina Aguilera. Her lyrics reflect her SNL humor that would warm the hearts of the McCarthys (Jennifer and Melissa). Amber's Dream is to "build community and reach the marginalized through any type of art."
RYAN had no intention of being a musician at all, despite being exposed to his father's daily practicing the trombone, and his mother and sister's constant barrage of classic piano playing. It wasn't until the age of 21, upon having left out on his own, and living in the usual rebellious adolescent fashion with a very musically inspiring roommate in the city of Tujunga, did he clumsily begin to take up the guitar, and joined in playing entire Weezer and They Might Be Giants catalogs for people on the streets of Old Town Pasadena. After a falling out and a few years passing, Ryan finally got the courage to join a band, playing bass. A very inspired project called MFOA (most fun of all' among other comical acronyms) and began doing shows all over Los Angeles area, with a mix of revolving band members, until it fizzled out due to lack of consistency. Similarly, now Amber and Ryan remain the only permanent members of Sammysezso, the band they started.
SONGS: Even when the lyrics or subject matter aren't always sunshine and roses, all songs are full of positive energy. From the ironically witty sattire in 'Hollywood Sign' to the mournings of a close friends passing in 'Bubbly', all songs leave everyone in a good mood for hearing them. Each song usually comes from a particularly inspired feeling that empathizes with the human condition. Troublesavers, blatantly states it's messege of saving the world from everything wrong. Summertime Feeling evokes the overwhelming feeling of someone completely head over heels in love. Drunken Losers more controversially pokes fun at an outlandish character who cannot maintain his or her control of drinking to an extent of which is totally absurd.
These descriptions given, Ryan and Amber both like to leave a bit of ambiguity to the listener for their own interpretations as well, in lyrics that aren't so blatantly obvious, like in 'I Feel A Bit Funky' describing a the feelings of a personified dragonfly.
THE FUTURE: Yes, we have many more songs and ideas yet to share with you, the first being a completed full length album of the initial 'Save This World' EP, as well as Ryan's environmentally inspired album, 'Trash Planet' and another full length album to follow the first: 'New World's Ghost' All of which we hope to deliver as soon as we can, possibly as soon as December 2014. We can't wait to play more shows and bring more music to our fans, and may God bless this Earth : ) -Sammysezso 8.15.13
