WhaleHawk is the sound collage art of Grammy nominated NYC-based compser/musician Jacob Sanders. A lifetime student of music, Mr. Sanders has worked on over 30 studio albums as a session musician, producer, arranger, and composer. He's played all over the world from Puerto Rico to Queens.
He has shared the stage and collaborated with Moby, Big Daddy Kane, Anthony Hamilton, Keyon Harrold, Ron Miles, The Slip, The Lifted Crew, Eric Kalb, Jon Faddis, J.Most, Emily King, Jesse Fischer, Ben Senterfit, and Uri Djemal. He's provided remixes for such artists as OK GO, Paul Simon, Raheem DeVaughn, De La Soul, Pharell, The Roots and more.
Mr. Sanders has also worked in film and television gaining placements with Nike, NFL Films, History Detectives on PBS, Twig Science Films, and Bryant College. He has composed original soundtracks for several movies, one of which (Back Door Channels) made its World Premiere at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival in October 2010 and has recently won 11 Telly Awards, making it the most awarded documentary of 2012. In addition to film scoring, Mr. Sanders also does sound design. For Halloween 2010 & '11, Mr Sanders provided Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound for 2 short 4D horror films for Madame Tussaud's in NYC with directors Daniel Califf-Glick & Chad WIlliams. He recently provided some sound design for a short film about BMX star Nigel Sylvester for Nike from director Philip Knowlton.
Recently he has exploded into the world of modern dance providing commissioned works for some of the world's finest dance companies; a.gise and dancers and Chris Ferris & Dancers in NYC and Kibbutz Contemporary Dance in Israel. He's also provided original musical works for local choreographers Jenny Stulberg, Katie Chakey, and Lexy Rose.
As the Creative Director for CueBro Audio Productions, with placements for Nike, Corona, Nintendo, Democracy Now, and Bryant College, he has widened the scope for his label with groundbreaking artistic and commercial projects involving a diverse cast of collaborators. In addition to being dashingly handsome he is an enthusiast for all things contradictory. The name WhaleHawk demonstrates this enthusiasm along with the style of music which can be all of the genres at once while not being one of them twice.
