Breindy was born in Israel and moved to South Africa when she was three years old. Her family has a rich heritage of traditional Jewish music which has formed the basis of her musical background. Her grandfather was a chazzan at the famous Schiff Shul in Vienna, her mother is a professionally trained pianist and her father, a prominent rabbi, is well known for being an inspiring prayer-leader. She started composing songs when she was sixteen and after returning from seminaries in England and Israel, began studying music at Wits University.
In 2010 Breindy signed a record deal with Other Mother Music and subsequently released her highly acclaimed debut album Hallelukah. It is being distributed in America through Aderet music, and she is currently on tour with the album, playing shows with her husband in and around Johannesburg. Breindy is also presently completing her Honours in Visual and Performing Arts at Wits.
