StereoFiend / Bio

In the early months of 2013, three life long friends got together and started playing. What began as a cover band playing all Motown and Stax covers, morphed into a musical project more complex and original than any of them could have ever imagined.
Although they came from different musical backgrounds, Deo (bass), Slug (drums), and Curmudgeon McMuffin (guitar) were united by their love of heavy rhythmic beats and improvisation. What came forth from their fevered imaginations was an innovative mixture of funk and hip-hop, with a jam band twist.
Once the foundation was laid out, the only missing piece of this funky, black sheep pie was vocals to match. After months of intense searching through want ads and word of mouth leads, the line up was solidified with the addition of two lead vocalists, Troy "Big Symm" (emcee) and Ali "Joy" (vox). Adding to the eclectic musical mix was the rapid-fire, word-assault from Big Symm and the tender, siren vocals of Joy.
Though they have only been performing together for less than a year, StereoFiend is quickly building a following of passionate fans in the San Antonio and San Marcos areas. Not ones for stagnation, StereoFiend continues to push the boundaries of what a hip-hop band can do, continuously creating new and exciting jams and pressing on into a formidable future.
