Michelle started pursuing her music career at the age of 10 when she picked up her first guitar and started singing with her Youth Children’s Choir. By the age of 15, Velez was getting paid for performing at local festivals, venues, and for competing and winning competitions. She has had the honor of singing the National Anthem at the Gary Rail Cat’s Stadium and has been a main headliner at Griffith's Rockin’ Rail Fest. Michelle has performed at Highland and Schererville Farmer's Market, Griffith's Music in the Park, Griffith's Central Market, Dyer's Music in the Park, and car shows. She is a previous finalist of the Texaco Country Showdown, formerly known as the Colgate Country Showdown. While home from school, she participates as a vocalist and guitarist for the Contemporary Choir of St. Mary Catholic Church in Griffith, IN. Michelle has had extensive performance experience and has coordinated musicians for local, town and collegiate events. With all of Velez’s past experiences, she has become very intrigued with the entertainment and music industry. Michelle has held an internship position at HGS Music Studio in Highland, IN, where she assisted staff as needed. Michelle also volunteers her time coordinating musicians for the Town of Highland Indiana's "Highland Street Market." She has studied at the Berklee College of Music Vocal Summit program for which only 100 applicants were selected nationwide. While at Berklee, she had the honor of working with American Idol/The Voice’s vocal coach, Debra Byrd. Michelle will earn a Bachelor of Science in Music with a Music Business Concentration from the University of Indianapolis in May 2015. She will continue her education at Valparaiso University, pursuing a Master of Arts in Arts & Entertainment Administration.
