My story: took a break from Johns Hopkins & signed with Charisma Records in 1977 and a second record/film contract with RSO in 1978. In a parallel career as a folk-singer and song-writer, headlined The Cambridge Folk Festival in England in 1978, at the top of a bill including Don McLean and Richie Havens.
Surgery, research and education are my passion and I have always loved the intersection of medicine and music.
Am also current Chief Editor of "Schwartz's Principles of Surgery".

RIP Richie Havens April 22, 2013. Havens was the twentieth living recipient of the Peace Abbey Courage of Conscience Award, presented in Sherborn, Massachusetts on April 12, 1991.
RIP John Lennon December 8, 1980. Lennon posthumous received the Peace Abbey Award for his music and anti-war protests which helped to bring to the attention of an entire generation the ideals of peace and love.
