The term “supergroup” is often ill-used, but in the case of Edmonton’s The Dungarees there simply is no other way of describing them.
All five members of this country AND western outfit are essential players in a number of different regional bands, drawn together by friendship and a mutual and unabashed love of roots music. Skillful and passionate musicians conversant with both the traditions of the Grand Old Opry as well as some of the newer Nashville stars, The Dungarees invariably please a wide variety of audiences. From Rodney Crowell to Buck Owens, Waylon Jennings to Dwight Yoakum, The Dungarees have kept many an Alberta crowd two steppin’ until well into the evening.
As leaders of their own original bands (Robb Angus in The Wheat Pool, James Murdoch of The James Murdoch Band, Darrek Anderson of The Guaranteed) or essential members in others (Chris Sturwold in Rotting Fruit, Kiron Jhass in The Uncas) The Dungarees have had a great deal of touring and recording experience to call on. As a five man brotherhood devoted to showing an audience a fantastic time they use every trick gained through from it; miss them at your own peril.
