Danny Jijon — 23 year old DJ/Producer/Sound Engineer born in Ecuador now located in New York.
Latin inspired sounds, melodic Tech & Deep House all infused with anything that he feels is the right fit for the moment. These are some of the things you can witness in Danny Jijon’s music. There is not just one specific thing that inspires him. When you listen to his music, whether he’s playing live or in the studio, you can tell it’s him.
He grew up his whole life around music. Playing Classical Guitar from a very young age, studying at The Manhattan School of Music, and exhibiting his musical passion at some of the most prestigious venues in New York, he knew that performing in front of so many people was exactly what he wanted to do. This journey sparked an interest in getting involved in different fields of the music industry. Danny says, “From a very young age I looked up to some of the greatest DJs of my time and this influenced me a lot to becoming a DJ. Being able to control small and huge crowds with my music was something that I was addicted to.” Danny started DJing when he was 17 just at the moment when he was able to buy his first DJ setup. Since that day he never stopped practicing and just dreamed of one day reaching the levels of his idols. There is one goal for him, and that is to make a change in music, all for better.
Within a year of non-stop practicing, gathering up knowledge, and attending weekly events (sometimes sneaking in to spots he wasn’t even old enough to get into), Danny created a network of key people in the business that showcased him at various venues in New York, from well-known Meat Packing District venues such as, Kiss & Fly, Provocateur, & The Bunker to underground spots in Downtown or Brooklyn. These years of playing for New York City’s diverse and culture rich crowds, opened up his eyes more to what was out there.
In the summer of 2011, amongst his local gigs, Danny showcased his talent in Ecuador in the cities Quito and Riobamba. He will be back very soon to play once again for his native country. In Fall of 2011, Danny was added to the roster of artists of a radio station based in New York which focuses on the exposure of some of the best upcoming DJ/ Producers mainly in New York, as well as, international talent. During the week of Winter Music Conference 2012, he was given an amazing opportunity to play at well-known hotels and some of the most influential venues Miami has to offer to the world of Dance music, such as, Nikki Beach, Gansevoort, and Clevelander. “Although, I had played at a WMC in the past, this time, by far, was the best because I was forming part of a movement called Global Mixx Radio, which showcases some of the most talented upcoming DJ / Producers from different cities worldwide,” says Danny.
Summer 2012 has been full of unexpected opportunities that have changed the path his music career is taking. Danny now belongs to the Deep Müsik Artist Management Entertainment family which is an artist management company based out of Mexico. Regardless of his busy schedule, Danny still finds the time to put all his hard work into his passion, music, and all the parts that form it. From his gigs to producing music or sound engineering to his latest project, his own radio show on Globalmixxradio.com called "Melodias," you can always recognize the time and effort put into all of his work.
