Born in Downsview, Ontario, I taught myself how to play guitar at age 10, mostly because my sister played guitar and was playing all of these really cool Neil Young songs. After teaching myself songs like "Heart of Gold" and "Needle and the Damage Done", I started moving onto other artists such as Elton John. My sister's boyfriend at the time, who was also a great guitarist in my eyes, challenged me to write my own songs.
I got my first electric guitar when I was 13 and discovered music from Kiss and Led Zeppelin. As my lead guitar skills were taking shape, I then discovered Van Halen from another guitarist whose skills started rubbing off on me at the time. I discovered many of the other bands listed as time when on, by the turning point in both my playing and writing happened when I discovered the likes of Yngwie Malmsteen and Paul Gilbert.
Despite the efforts of my mother to keep me out of the music business, I remained somewhat persistent. Although I most likely missed my chance at being a rock star, my music has still made it out there as I have composed soundtracks for various businesses, commercials, short films and plays. As well, I have also been able to use my music skills for Internet multimedia application development. When I am not working on music or wedding photography (or Internet application development for that matter), I am producing and mixing young artists from our local church who would otherwise not have a chance because they can't afford it... and they definitely deserve a chance to make it.
These days, I live in Guelph with my wife, Joelle and Josh, who is the last of our 5 children still living at home. I am also a grand-father, and will hopefully get the chance to teach my grandchildren guitar when they get old enough.
