Flash / Bio

Flash was formed in London in 1971 when singer Colin Carter met ex-Yes guitarist Peter Banks. Ray Bennett, friend of Yes drummer, Bill Bruford, joined on bass. Drummer, Mike Hough was found via an ad in The Melody Maker. Tony Kaye, ex-Yes keyboards, was a guest on the first album “FLASH”, but never became a permanent member.
• “Small Beginnings” from debut album, “FLASH”, reached #28 Billboard. Other Flash ‘radio hits’ : “Children Of The Universe”, “Lifetime”.
• Flash toured the USA, UK, and Europe in the early 70’s, one of progressive rock’s originators. • TV appearances : NBC’s “Midnight Special” . Metromedia’s “Superstars Of Rock” (with The Who) in the USA , T.V. in Holland, Belgium and German, and live radio shows in the U.S.A and UK.
* After two and a half years of successful touring and three studio albums, Flash disbanded. All four members reunited in various combinations during the 70's to early 80's and some of the output appears on Ray Bennett’s 2001 CD “Angels & Ghosts”. By 1982 the Flash members went their separate ways.

Reunion discussions began around 2003, all were initially enthusiastic, but Banks and Hough failed to commit.
In late 2004 Flash songwriters, Ray Bennett and Colin Carter, began working and launched "The Bennett/Carter Band". Bennett now on guitar - having long made a switch from bass - and Carter, also on guitar led a jam band with a varying cast of bass players and drummers playing a broad range of material.
• 2005 : Bennett and Carter played the Flash repertoire as a duo at the invitation of The Baja International ProgRock Festival.
