In just a short time, Jazz/Rock band, the Terks have become one of the biggest bands in Utah and created a following through out the world. Deseret News and Salt Lake Tribune called them one of the next local bands who will go big, named alongside platinum selling bands, Neon Trees and Fictionist. The Terks were recently awarded the Hollywood Music award for best unsigned band in the nation, on Grammy weekend, nominated out of thousands of bands worldwide. They were selected by fan vote and by a panel of judges including Grammy/Emmy winning director Tommy Trbovich (We Are The World, The Tonight Show), Drew Lane (Billboard winning producer/top hit-maker of High School Musical and Glee), and Chris Donavon (Director of the Golden Globe/Emmy Awards). They have been praised by critics from Rolling Stone, iTunes, and Chicago Sun-Times, calling them one of next great American bands, with comparisons to R.E.M., Tom Petty, and Frank Sinatra. Even Rock and Roll Hall of Famers and multi-platinum artists, the Doobie Brothers and Roger McGuinn of the Byrds are big fans, having sent personal notes. Currently The Terks are ranked #1 in the nation on the Jazz Charts and #1 Globally. Though offered record deals by several major labels, the Terks have chosen to remain independent.
