MADISON STREET BAND / Bio

Madison Street Bio
The story of Madison Street begins when Mark Sabin, at the age of six, moved in with his family three houses away from Allen McMillan, also age six on Madison Street. Meeting at this early age, music was the thing that brought the two together they would often get coffee cans and a wagon and pull it around the block and pretend they were in a band or sit and listen to Beatles and Elvis records together. It became very clear early on they would make music together one day.
Allen grew up around a musical family his father played steel guitar and his brothers played instruments as well. Music was a constant at his home as his older brother Randy played guitar in various groups and his father managed the bands.
Mark & Allen would often sit on the basement steps and sneak a listen as they were eight years younger and who wants their younger brother around? They enjoyed listening to his brother’s bands.
Mark also comes from a family with music in its blood he was inspired at a very young age by his grandfather who played blues & jazz and was known as a terrific guitar player. Mark would always look to carry on his Grandfathers legacy and still has his grandfathers guitar a early 60s Harmony Espanada arch top that’s one of his prized possessions.
The two friends would begin leaning guitar together in Mark’s bedroom or Allen’s basement spinning .45 records and learning songs of their favorite artists.
They would as friends sometimes drift away from each other. Life would from time to time take them in different directions but always remaining friends. They would reconnect from time to time always writing and playing their own songs but nothing permanent until now. They would continue to find musical influences in all kinds of music and artists of the times and this would come to shape their sound.
Mark & Allen played together in several young bands when they were in grade and Junior High school. They would play grade & Junior High School dances as well as playing live on a float in the city parade with a generator to fuel the electric guitars in the rain. It was fun times.
Mark went on to become a veteran of playing many clubs as a solo acoustic act. Later years he added midi backing tracks as accompaniment. He was playing the music of the Beatles, John Denver, Jim Croce, Garth Brooks, and Bob Segar just to name a few.
Allen went on to play in many cover bands as well as original acts. Allen was influenced more from the Blues players of the day, such as Eric Clapton, BB King and the classic rock of the times. He has enjoyed playing in many clubs.
Together With all the experience gained and many shows behind them they find themselves back at the beginning where it all began. Taking their many influences and merging both their writing and playing styles it just seems to work, it just feels right. Madison Street has been born but, in a way it has always been here. With a unique sound that is all their own. Many people hear different influences. Example the song (Woman In You) some have said they hear Blood, Sweat & tears, The Beatles, REM & Steppenwolf just to name a few. What this all means is that Madison Street produce a sound all their own but familiar they take people back to the classic rock sound that many are longing for but with a touch of the new sound. Let Madison Street take you back and to the future, give them a listen and tap your toes and enjoy the sounds of Madison Street! Madison Street is not only about music but a musical journey!
