DEEMONEEY was born Desmond Kwame Amoah on the 13th of March 1993 and has from a very young age been entranced with music, at age 10 he started writing music and released his first mixtape a few years ago, gaining a small following from his freestyle videos and explosive mixtape lyrics, DeeMoneeY dropped his first single: ‘KPOKPO O BODY’ in FEB 2011 which immediately proved to the critics and unassuming that he was a bonafide superstar in the making. The infectious sound, catchy hook and unique lyrics made it clear there was a new force in the Ghanaian music industry. His second single ‘ONE THING’ off the upcoming ‘MY TIME TO EAT’ album was dropped later in the year and was accepted wholeheartedly by his fans. The third single titled ‘DING DONG’ also off the album is set to be released on the 19th of January 2012 and is a hit in the making.
For a generation raised with hip-life and hip- pop sensibilities, DeeMoneey has taken the reins as the residing voice, blending smooth Hip-Hop, Dance music ,Techno , House cadence and Hip-life inflection that ride easy over beats and infectious hooks. This has tremendously boosted the range of his listeners.
DeeMoneey has written for artists in Ghana and overseas. Besides all this, DeeMoneey is an artist to the core, albeit one with an uncanny business savvy and according to him, he thinks many artists lose themselves in the glare of stardom, but he is here to stay and produce good music for his fans. When asked about where he sees himself five (5) years from now, DeeMoneey replied, “ I work hard to produce good and heart-touching music so therefore I really wanna see my music all over the Globe, GMA’S, BET Awards , Grammys and many more. Also I plan to be involved in the movie industry so be on the lookout for that because you’re gonna be seeing me on your Movie screens soon and we’re also gonna be doing something big in fashion so watch out for that” He is ambitious and always willing to strive for the best in life and music. His music is influenced by both African culture and western culture specifically Hip-Hop. “Making music is a talent, so I plan to make use of mine”. His top 5 legendary artists are 2pac, Big-L, Biggie Smalls, Jay Z and Ice Cube.
