I've been a guitar player and writer forever. I started playing in 1968 when I was 14. Played rock and blues in the 70's. Led worship in church in the 80's and played country for a living in the 90's. Opened some shows for Colin Raye and Chris LeDouxe. I moved to Austin in 1999 and started singing all over at songwriter nights and was doing pretty good. Havin a lot of fun anyway. I moved to Southeast Texas in 2000 and kept writing. Then in 2007 I moved here to the Dallas area and there is music everywhere. Lots of places to play, and a lot of good open mics in and around the surrounding area. Anyway I'm a guitar player and looking for people to play with. If you like what you hear and are lookin for a guitar player, send me a message. I haven't played out Live in a long time and am looking forward to playing again.
A lot of artists have influenced me and my music. The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Carlos Santana, Tommy Emmanuel, James McMurtry and Chris Knight. The list goes on and they're very different from each other. Sonny Landreth, Derek Trucks, Charlie Robison, and Keb' Mo'. There was a song in the early 90's by George Jones called "Who's gonna fill their shoes ". To me, those shoes are too big for anyone to fill. George Jones, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings,Willie Nelson, Ray Price, Vern Gosdin and on and on. I don't think anyone can fill those shoes, but we can follow and if we learn from them, music will always be great. All of my musical heroes had heroes of their own that they tried to be like, and in the process of admiring so many they became great themselves. I like a wide variety of music styles. One of my favorite songs is "16 tons" by Tennessee Ernie Ford. It's one of the coolest songs I've ever heard. I like Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra,Ray Charles and Tony Bennett. I just enjoy good music. I think what you like is what influences you.
