PIEDMONT ROAD may be a new band, but its members have been performing, recording, and touring throughout all parts of the US for almost two decades. Its members come from Maine, Georgia, New Jersey, and North Carolina; finally coming together in the mountains of Asheville, NC, in 2011. The band has combined its different backgrounds and musical styles into one unique stew of rock, funk, jazz, prog, and jam to offer its own individual sound & identity.
- Guitarist, vocalist, & songwriter SAM MITCHELL was the leader of popular northeast band Five Foot Ficus, releasing two albums and enjoying its own following for several years.
- Keyboardist & vocalist GUS VIGO is a founding member of Juggling Suns, known throughout the US for its musical chops & improvisational adventures.
- Bassist TINK LAWING has performed with a large number of groups ranging from progressive rock groups to jazz fusion bands and many styles in between.
- Drummer KEVIN CASSELS was a founding member of Asheville’s Mother Vinegar, who had a local radio hit with “Gypsum Cave” & toured with groups like Umphrey’s McGee & Outformation, headlining Asheville’s Orange Peel on a number of occasions.
Though Piedmont Road displays tight musical chops and a knack for group improvisation, the song always comes first, & the band’s harmony vocals & accessible songs offer a full complete sound unlike any other. The time is now for masses to discover PIEDMONT ROAD
