Reign Project is real music about real life, and just like life, it isn’t always peachy. Sometimes our sound gets dark. We believe there is always a “reign” bow after the storm. The sun will come out again, we can put on our happy pants and make you dance. Music is art that reflects life and since life is like a multi-faceted mirror ball, it has many sounds and many styles. We hope you enjoy the ride with us!! Love you all! Nikki
Reign Peace – Lead vocals, songwriter
Growing up in Germany, Reign Peace grew up where music was a significant element of the educational system. He experimented with many different instruments and found a home with the keyboard. Working large music festivals as a teenager, Reign Peace was exposed to major recording artists and every musical genre across the board. What impressed Reign Peace the most, was the fact that these artists could unite people so different from each other, in color, religion, politics and lifestyles. “I understood that there are no borders for music.” At age 20 he moved to Denver, Colorado in search of his estranged father. Years passed and Reign Peace found himself unfulfilled managing and promoting various local and national bands. He bought a Korg workstation and began dedicating his time for his own band. Reign Project was born. Self taught keyboardist, Reign Peace was influenced growing up with the birth of synthesizers and the likes of Jean-Michael-Jarre and Vangelis hitting the airwaves. He heard the Mini-Moog and couldn’t stop playing it. If passion has a voice, it sounds like Reign Peace. The message itself is the single most important element. “I want to lift you up, I want to carry you when you’re down, I want you to have fun and enjoy your life or, on the other hand, give voice to the things in the world that I find wrong.”
Drrags – Guitar, backing vocals, songwriter
Our resident ladies man, Drrags is our guitarist extraordinaire, song writer, and also spends time playing bass and ukulele (mostly because he loves saying “ukulele”). Originally from the east coast (but we don’t hold that against him), Drrags has been writing songs since he was 15. He grew up playing piano and was spawned from a family of guitar players. He has been in too many bands to count – all originals, as this guy is too creative for playing covers. Toured the east coast and all over Colorado, Drrags has industry notches in his belt - studio time, radio play, local TV spots and touring which includes opening for a some national acts. Oddly, Drrags is one of two Reign members who owns chickens. Can you guess who the other is? Drrags studied guitar in college, but what he prefers to study is the audience from the stage. Debonair in his black bowler hat and devious with his long metal hair, Drrags belts out some amazing riffs and captivating solos that makes Reign Project who they are today. As if this wasn’t enough, Drrags is an accomplished artist (drrags.net) and keeps Reign Project ahead of the curve in the latest fashions.
Nicole – Keyboards, cello
Invariably bringing a smile and a positive attitude, Nicole delivers a definite drive to the band. A Colorado native, Nicole has been performing for most of her life, including a seat with the All State Orchestra. Her love for music and performing drew her to Reign Project. She has over 20 years experience playing and performing piano, keyboards and cello. A former nightclub owner, Nicole’s keen business-sense knows what it takes to stay on top of Reign Project’s marketing and promotion. Her influences range from Elvis to Elton John and Marilyn Manson. Listing bacon as her top favorite food, Nicole loves listening to all music and writing poetry.
Gordon – Keyboards, backing vocals
Playing piano since he was old enough to eat solid foods, Gordon has a musically technical background that compliments Reign so well. Undoubtedly the quietest member, practice wouldn’t be the same without the random avant-guard piano, organ and synth parts that leave you thinking “what the…..?” What do you expect from an uber creative tech-geek who has played viola, sax, bass and races road bikes up paralyzingly steep mountains….just for fun? We rely on the G-Man for all things computery and over-our-heads technical. Just to keep us all guessing he’ll throw out the odd, out of context comment and just smile. Cultivating inspiration thru the genius likes of Pink Floyd, They Might Be Giants and Yes, it’s no wonder he’s the energizer bunny of creativity. No matter how rich his inner world is, it is no question that Reign Project would not be the same without Gordy tickling those ivories for us.
Annamul – Drums, backing vocals
Annamul comes to us from the same Midwestern town that Prince put on the map. Her mother was a drummer……need we say more? At 7 she started piano lessons and by 10 she was ready to start smacking those drums. Annamul’s passion for the drums led her to study for 10 years with noted percussionist Elliot Fine, a 44-year veteran of the Minnesota Orchestra. Annamul recalls, “He was a huge influence on me as a drummer and in my life. He always told me because I was a girl, I needed to play louder than everyone else (in the school band).” Also inspired and influenced by the likes of John Bonham, Ginger Baker and Terry Bozzio, she has a definite drive and passion for “hitting things with sticks”. Annamul’s drumsticks have landed her full time gigs touring North America, handfuls of original and mostly all-female bands, studio time, teaching and the occasional cover band. Annamul’s love and appreciation for the theatrical side of music and performance has claimed Reign Project as her latest prey. A former business owner (most of the members of Reign Project have been past business owners), Annamul brings organization and focus to the band.
