Kev.O's award-winning sound is the meeting place of the gutter jazziness and conviction of Rhythm & Blues and the both overt and subliminal drive of Vintage Pop and Rock, creating a sonic orgy of both liquid lyricism and mean musicianship. Taking on the golden path laid by legends like Donny Hathaway, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, and The Beatles and drawing upon the influences of new-school phenoms like Brandy, John Mayer, Van Hunt, Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, and ColdPlay, he prepares to take the independent music scene in a new direction! A native of Atlanta, GA, Kev.O spent his undergrad years in Washington, DC at The Howard University. In fact, Kev.O is a product of Howard’s premier jazz vocal ensemble AFRO Blue, which won two awards from Downbeat Magazine in 2003 and 2004. His roster also includes working with major artists Mya, Kim Burrell, and Mario and independent artists YahZarah aka Purple Saint James, SolEdler, Russell Taylor, Green Tea, Shaun H Mykals, Kenny Wesley, Maimouna Yousef, Alex Williams, and Tre' Thomas. He has also shared the stage as an opening act for Raheem DeVaughn, Chrisette Michele, The Family Stone Project, and Wayna. In 2009, Velocity Magazine recognized Kev.O as "Best Alternative Artist", his first award as a solo artist. Since 2004, Kev.O continues to perform regularly with Reverb while also working as a songwriter, vocal coach, vocal arranger, producer, model, and actor.
