“Sunshine settles in the west
Friends and family have called Erica Lee “Sunshine” since she was a little girl.
The nickname stuck so well that it followed her from Elberton to California. So many people know her as Sunshine, Lee has made it her unofficial middle name.
But she still leads with Erica, lest anyone get the wrong idea.
“I didn’t want to go by just Sunshine,” she said. “People may think I was a stripper or something.”
Far from it, actually. The native Georgian turned Californian has a country music career that is starting to bud. She’s fresh off a nationwide tour and has a new album ready for release.
Not bad for a woman who sold cars for years. She left Elberton to visit her sister in California nine years ago and never came back.
Lee cut her teeth in cover bands, but eventually got the itch to start writing and playing her own music.
