Hailing from Sunset, Louisiana, Curley is the son of Zydeco legend Jude Taylor. He played drums in his father's band and accordion for Geno Delafose's French Rockin' Boogie before striking out on his own as a bandleader, earning praise for his energetic yet soulful sound. He's also collaborated with such Louisiana legends as C.C. Adcock, Steve Riley, John Hart, "Lil'" Bob of The Lollipops, and his uncles, "Lil' Buck" Sinegal and Wayne "Blue" Burns.
