Will Sid Smith / Press

“18-year old Will Sid Smith opened the night with his very own songs and amazed the audience with his sound despite the young age. Even with initial technical issues, Will was able to turn things around and get the audience ready for a splendid night. If you’re digging Indie and Pop – make sure to check out Will’s soothing sounds”

“Safe is a beautiful song with a haunting melody and emotional lyrics, so so sad but at the same time poetic.”

“...Nonetheless, there is an amazing phenomenon about this young man. His music and songs display a sensitivity and maturity that would be common to a songwriter/singer who is much older and has experienced more life than a mere 18 years on this planet. Indeed, the passion in his voice would seem to be channeled from a source from a previous life. In talking at length to this young man.. his maturity and keen intellect become charmingly evident as does his sense of humor. Will Sid Smith is the real deal”

“Urban Country bounces into life with jungle drums and a bouncing bass-line with Will Sid Smith's excellent, fresh voice cutting through. This track sounds a bit like John Mayer but a bit more fun and a little less world-weary. Although this precocious teenager is actually singing about wanting to escape suburban city life and get out into the country where he can see the stars at night. A clever little piano line comes in on the second chorus, there is also a really good breakdown that gives a fresh perspective on the track later on. The bass guitar (must be a Fender!) is rich and light at the same time & along with the drums keeps Urban Country moving along beautifully. Well produced, well written and really well sung this was our track of the week because it blends bits of country and bits of pop and twists it into something unique & modern sounding. Like Charlie Law's winner from last week "One Step" it is ridiculously catchy. A brilliant song and a great winner for week 3!”

“Will’s EP, 29, falls into that generalised genre of Pop music (albeit with a touch of acoustica) but is by no means bubble-gum pop! The lyrics are soundly based and the introduction from the first few acoustic bars into a more formalised electric/percussive arrangement gives his tracks a certain edge. It is often hard, as a relative newcomer, to find a decent opening track, yet alone write one, but Will has placed “tonight’ in the forefront; luckily for him, this is a sound choice and draws one into the rest of the mini album. It would be amiss of me not to mention the arrangement of Urban Country, especially with regard to that percussion-very strong, rhythmic and all embracing. Overall, a great start for Will.”

“Check out Will Sid Smith on the Internet... He is as ambitious as he is talented... It is all a matter of time before he hits it big... Just remember you first read about him in Punk Globe..”
