Sweet and Low, Songs of New Orleans: The Lucky Losers, featuring Cathy Lemons & Phil Berkowitz with special guest Volker Strifler. This show pays tribute to Dr. John, Ruth Brown, Irma Thomas, Allen Toussaint, and more. Lemons and Berkowitz, head up a crack 6 piece band and blend their own originals with rare but classic covers of blues to create a modern sound using an old musical idea—the male/female duet! Their new CD, "A Winning Hand," hosts some top notch players from the West Coast: Kid Andersen (nominated for BMA “Best Guitarist” 2014), Chris Burns (of Maria Muldaur), Steve Freund (of Sunnyland Slim & Big Walter Horton), and Ben Rice (winner IBC “Best Guitarist 2015). Their special guest, Volker Strifler is a stunningly unique and creative guitarist who’s original style of Blues/Roots, are innovative explorations into rock, jazz, and Latin rhythms—and now he is making a stop in New Orleans!

Q: Do you or would you consider playing at a wedding? We are big fans and are considering getting married next year. We would love to have you play if it was within our budget. Thanks, Victor

A: Hi Victor, I don't "typically" play at weddings, but I am not opposed to the idea. Just want to offer food for thought from past experiences: We're not a typical wedding band and the music we play is all original, not what you would normally hear at a wedding and sometimes that can lead to dissatisfaction on both sides. As far as budget goes, it depends on the size of the band. We can do a Quartet for a larger band with horns .Obviously, the schedule has to work for everybody as well. So if I have not scared you away entirely, let me know when you're ready and we'll talk about everything. Thanks for your interest and all the best to you, Volker
