VILLROT-music often contains the sound of old historical ballads and instruments, such as hurdygurdy, harps, fiddles, nordic bagpipe and more, used in old nordic tunes/ballades mixed with new creations and improvisations.
In the late nineties VILLROT started up again as a folkfusionband while Hans Melhus brought VILLROT into a more folkrelated music style together with Jorunn Skaldmoy, after a few years out of sight of the public eye. Some years earlier musicians from the band Tabula Rasa, based in Trondheim, Norway, started using the VILLROT name, soon after, Arne Elvemo, the fiddler, moved up the north, and Trygve Fætten with his bass went busy with new projects.
In memorial of the drummer and danser, Adolphe Flan Gueu, who did percussions from 1999 and for a couple of years, Villrot remember him with respect and gratitude for bringing his great african rhythms into the nordic music.
Finally Espen Julgeitson Mindreboe rejoined the band with great energy and spirit to the art of percussion. These three musicians bring good vibrations to the Villrot-music and make the main constellation of VILLROT as well.
