Bio: The Upper Valley Music Festival takes place on Saturday July 21, 2012. The UVMF is in our second year and we are committed to raising even more money for the American Cancer Society. Cancer has hit so many of our families hard so we take any chance we can to hit back. This is an all volunteer event. Everyone from the artists to the stage hands graciously give their time so we can donate every penny of profit to fund cancer research. The UVMF is also a “coming out party” of sorts for our independent music scene. We have a tremendous talent pool of professional bands and musicians here. Our goal is to promote and increase the exposure of these acts. We want the UVMF to be an important Indie music event! In 2012 the UVMF moves to the artsy, groovy town of Turners Falls, MA. The UVMF is split into two sides-The Electric Side and The Acoustic Side. The historic Shea Theatre will serve as our main venue and the Great Hall of the Great Falls Discovery Center will be our main acoustic stage. We also have St. Kazimierz Society Club, which will serve as the Festival’s Dance Hall where festival goers can dance to live music all day and night! The Rendezvous (The Voo!) will be our “bar” venue where our patrons can get some great food and drink while listening to some rockin’ music! The UVMF Emerging Artists stage will be at Burrito Rojo. All festival venues are within walking distance. We will have a contra dance and a traditional Irish music session. We may even have a polka party at our dance hall! The Upper Valley Music Festival is something we want the whole community to be involved in. We will be running promotions with local businesses such as discounts at local restaurants for festival-goers with wristbands. We want to foster an economic relationship between our music scene and local businesses. The UVMF supports downtowns! As last year there will be radio, print and TV ads and promo spots are in the works. There will be a festival program that will include ads from local businesses, band info and schedules. As you can see we’re putting a lot of machinery into play to make this successful and put you in front of as many people as possible! This is a musician’s festival. There will be catered backstage areas for artists, volunteers and festival staff. (If anyone wants to donate a little something to the feast please feel free.) There will also be warm-up areas for acts about to go on. There will be merch tables available to all festival artists and we highly encourage our artists to take advantage of them and do some business. Bring CDs, t-shirts, stickers, etc. The table is a great place for face time with fans and festival-goers.
