Bio: The Freedom to Be. The Underground Musical Railroad. Founded by Peter Riden, frontman for the band Concept, The Grand Barn was built for music. The first structure built here was the 34x40 stage built with Peter, and his bandmates Pier Heiken and Robert C. Schwelb, and other friends. The Grand Barn hosts a yearly musician's retreat called Concept Week, and runs from July 1-7. The Grand Barn is also a non-profit driven cooperation and an agri-tourist Camping Resort and Creativity Hub, founded on the principles of Permaculture, The Golden Rule and Humanism. We welcome the traveler, artist, all other walks of life, cultures and creeds that harmonize with our universal approach. For over 20 years, The Grand Barn (TGB) is a Freedom Lover's retreat for relaxation and inspiration. What we provide a Sanctuary for Freedom. It is about opening up your mind to a unique presentation of ideas, music, culture, art, science and other children of the mind without boundary but always with responsibility. All this while appreciating the virtues of the physical, through the human body's experience of our rustic, down to earth and optional clothing environment. TGB consits of a huge retrofitted barn sitting on 250 acres of beautiful eastern Ontario countryside. It offers a swimming pool, hot tub, garden plots, volleyball, badminton, ping-pong, games, The Loft clubhouse with fully equipped stage, general store, restaurant kitchen, 40+ acres of old growth forest (aka the Back~40) with trails, Desire Lake, camp-sites, and trailer accommodations.
