Bio: The Leo Coffeehouse, presented by the Queen City Balladeers, is the place to go to listen to the best in local acoustic roots music (Americana, folk, acoustic blues, Cajun, Celtic and more). And if you are musician, the place to play as a refreshing change of pace from competing with espresso machines (in coffee shops) or pick-up lines (in bars). The Queen City Balladeers is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to keeping the traditions of roots music and folk performance alive and well in Cincinnati. Our primary event is the Leo Coffeehouse, held almost every Sunday night from September through May. Many thanks to Zion United Church of Christ in Norwood (2301 Indian Mound Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45212). The doors open about 5 p.m. for set-up; there is a song circle/jam that starts at 5:30 and runs until 6:45; performances run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Note: We do not pay musicians who play at the Leo. We do provide a great audience and a great experience. Artists are welcome to sell music and merchandise. We also offer occasional workshops for our members at 5:30, and there is a small stipend for leading a workshop of your own design. Please indicate your interest in offering a workshop when you speak to our booking agent.
