Bio: The Copenhagen Songwriters Festival is an annual event, founded in 2009 by American songwriter-presenter/Danish resident Brett Perkins, in collaboration with Kulturanstalten, transitioned to the Copenhagen Songwriters Festival Forening in 2014. The Copenhagen Songwriters Festival, ‘Celebrating Songwriters New & Known’, is focused on original song craft, and the vibrant songwriting scene in Denmark. The goal of the festival is to provide an inclusive, annual multicultural entertainment and educational event, to help raise awareness of the songwriting scene in Denmark, careers of Danish and international artists and international profile of Copenhagen as a city and as the currently most active European city for live songwriter showcasing. From The Founder: Starting the Copenhagen Songwriters Festival was the realization of a lifelong dream, and a natural evolution from presenting the Listening Room International Songwriter Retreats since 2002 and Listening Room Concerts Series since the early 90’s from Austin, Boston, Cannes, Dublin, Edinburgh, Galway, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, Memphis, Nashville, New York City, Portland, San Francisco and Stockholm to Thorshavn and Toronto. As the festival grows and expands in the coming years, I look to staying involved as an active board member helping insure continued presenting of a mixture of new and known artists, booked for the quality and heartfulness of their presentation and craft. Stay tuned for further updates to come. And, as always, thanks for listening….. Brett Perkins
