Violent Journey Records
Fast and crushing death/thrash-band from Varkaus, Finland.
"The production is pretty sharp, and it has intense performances all-around, especially in the deep (in pitch), shred-heavy rhythm guitar performance, and they vary up the tempos from blistering to middle like a bunch of pros, but always keep shit catchy."
"The saying “oh no, again another self financed debut album” does not count for this ‘Die Harder’ release by the Finish Unhoped. Or to say it in other words, Unhoped can be seen and heard with this one. Tight playing, a fine portion of thrash metal, a clear sound and a well taken care of artwork gave me a lot of pleasurable listening hours."
"With their subtly titled debut Die Harder, Finnish thrash metal act Unhoped have established themselves as one of the most promising young bands in the scene. Clocking in at just under a half-hour, this is relentless and aggressive metal from start to finish, and those who enjoy their thrash on the more fast-paced, brutal, and old school side should find plenty to love here. While this may not be one of the most groundbreaking releases you'll hear in 2011, it is certainly a damn impressive slab of throwback thrash metal. "
"I was not going to blog until sometime next week, but I just came across a band called Unhoped from Varkaus, Finland and had to add this quick post.
Simply put, Unhoped crushes with their brand of fast and brutal thrash. Unhoped's songwriting uses many ingredients in speed and mid-paced dynamics to create musical beasts that bring to mind the best aspects of Kreator and Slayer.
There's not much more to add here. If you like this style of thrash, there is no reason in the world why Unhoped won't assault you with a satisfying sonic punch to your gut."
"The bottom line, however, is these young Finns' Thrash flows very nicely and effortlessly indeed - and I bet the guitar duo King / Hanneman would kill for hearing some of the riffs that this Finnish twin 6-string attack squad Paasu / Laanto have churned around on this surprisingly ass-kicking release. Just for being UNHOPED's debut full-length studio album only (well, its playing time is less than a half hour), this album alone promises a bright future for them. They can undoubtedly thrash - and so convincingly even. "Die Harder" truly fuckin' smokes - big time!"
"The riffs and song structures bring to mind early Grave peppered with Slayer. Even the production hints at early Swedish death metal without the sludge. In fact, the production is impressive, gathering the killer tight riffing, spot-on drums, and lethal vocals into slabs of hard-pounding murderous metal."
