Town will be performing at 2:30PM for a 30 minute set! Mark your calendars! The 2011 Earth Day Festival will take place on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Pinecrest Gardens. For more information please contact 305.234.2121. The 1st Annual Earth Day Festival, celebrating the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, was a terrific success. The event showcased numerous workshops on topics such as energy efficiency ideas for your home, water conservation, the Everglades, and more. Pinecrest Gardens hosted over 60 green vendors, including a farmers market. In addition, in partnership with the Zoological Wildlife Foundation, a wildlife exhibition featuring a baby tiger, baby bear, and zebra entertained the crowds in the Imagination Station. The Banyan Bowl was full of fabulous entertainment all day long including a talent show featuring teens performing songs and dance routines, an Eco Fashion show featuring creations made of recycled materials, band performances and more. Ms. Earth Florida 2009, Michelle Piwko was the Master of Ceremonies during the fashion show segment of the day. The Village also sponsored an art contest as part of the celebration. Leia Schwartz became the winner of our student contest (poetry) with her Earth Day song along with Alison Flanders of Palmetto High (photography) and Alicia Stuart of Pinecrest Elementary (sculpture). The festival drew over 1,500 people to Pinecrest Gardens. website/credits: http://www.pinecrest-fl.gov/index.aspx?page=384
