The 15th Annual LEAF Festival will be held Saturday, September 28, 2013, from 10 AM to 3 PM at Frontier Park. Admission to the Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier Park’s (LEAF) festival is free and open. This is Erie’s annual celebration of the beauty and diversity of trees in the Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier Park, which is home to more than 250 different species of trees. This year’s festival features activities for all ages and interests including: crafts for kids, face painting, storytellers, giant bubbles, a Tree-sure Hunt, tree plantings, fitness activities, educational exhibits, food vendors and many other family activities. Chinese Auction tickets will be for sale throughout the day and the drawing will be held at 2:45 PM. Proceeds from the Chinese Auction will benefit the LEAF Education Center. Local organizations providing information and hands-on activities at the festival include: LEAF, Butterflies for Kids, Environment Erie, Ernst Conservation Seeds, ExpERIEence Children’s Museum, Fromknecht Native Trees, Get Fit Erie, PA DCNR Bureau of Forestry Service, PA DCNR Presque Isle State Park, Penn State Master Gardeners, Penn State Extension Erie County, Presque Isle Audubon Society, SONS of Lake Erie, Tom Ridge Environmental Center Natural History Collection, and others.
